Rooted in strength, protection, and quiet confidence, this design is inspired by the Anishinaabemowin word Makwa, meaning “Bear.” More than just an animal, Makwa is a guardian figure—steady, grounded, and deeply connected to the land. As part of the Seven Grandfather Teachings, Makwa represents courage, reminding us to face challenges with bravery, to stand strong in who we are, and to move through life with a fearless but gentle heart.
