Brooke Wawatie

Kwey, my name is Brooke.
I am an Anishinaabekwe from the Algonquins of Barriere Lake and Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg. I am currently in the process of completing my Advanced Diploma at Algonquin College in the Applied Museum Studies (AMS) program. My passion for heritage work includes all aspects - from hands-on technical collections care and preventative conservation to community-led public programming and exhibition management. I also retain a deep passion for the management and care of pre-contact archaeological collections, such as lithic stone tools, pottery, and organic objects.

My practical training connects all sides of the field, blending hands-on lab work and shop fabrication with collections management, digital design, and educational programming. As an Anishinabe studying on our traditional unceded territory, I aim to use my education and my perspective to support meaningful repatriation, data reconciliation, and community-driven storytelling.
